Los Angeles, CA – May 9, 2012 –
Over this past weekend the independently produced feature film, “Dreams Awake,” received two more awards at two different film festivals, the Honolulu Film Awards and the Awareness Festival.
In West Hollywood on May 6th “Dreams Awake” received the Narrative Feature Grand Jury Award at the Awareness Festival. Festival Director Skye Kelly presented the award to the film’s director, Jerry Alden Deal. Earlier in the day “Dreams Awake” had screened in its Los Angeles Premiere. In addition, Deal participated in a filmmakers panel with several other award-winning filmmakers who had films in the festival.
In Honolulu the day before on May 5th “Dreams Awake” received a Silver Lei Award at the Honolulu Film Awards dinner at the world-famous Sarento’s Restaurant on top of the Ilikai Hotel. This award was presented to “Dreams Awake” for ‘recognition of excellence in filmmaking.’ Festival Director Sean Stewart presented the award to the director Jerry Alden Deal, who was in attendance with his wife Berry Deal, the executive director of the film.
Two weeks before, “Dreams Awake” had walked away with 2 Gold Remi Awards at the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival; one Gold Remi was for Original Drama and the other was for Original Screenplay.
The film stars Erin Gray, Gary Graham and Tim O’Connor. Gray is known primarily for her lead roles in the TV series “Silver Spoons” and “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century,” but has also appeared in several other TV series’ and indie films. Graham starred in the TV series “Alien Nation” and “Star Trek Enterprise,” along with roles in a number of indie films. O’Connor came out of retirement to cap off his long career, which included starring opposite Erin Gray in “Buck Rogers,” as well as numerous roles dating back to the 1950s. He is primarily known for his role in the 1960’s TV series “Peyton Place.”
Billed as a mystical family drama, the story’s logline reads, “While on vacation a disconnected family gets stranded near mystical Mt. Shasta and gets more than they could have ever bargained for. A glimpse into the subtle but intense possibilities of the human spirit, this spiritual drama delves into that magical lore between reality and illusions, dreams and awake, and life and immortality.”
