Harlingen, TX – (September 5, 2012) – The independently produced, award-winning film “Dreams Awake” will be screening at the Cinesol Film Festival this coming weekend in Harlingen, TX. The film, a mystical family drama starring Erin Gray, will have its South Texas Premiere at the TSTC Cultural Arts Center on Saturday, September 8 at 12 noon. To date, the film has garnered eight awards at several different film festivals.

The film will be the first one to screen at Cinesol, which runs on consecutive weekends, September 8 & 9, and September 15 & 16. After the screening, Writer/Director Jerry Alden Deal will conduct a Question & Answer session with the audience.

Deal does have some past ties to the community, having lived here for a while with his family as a child. In addition, his father Jerry Deal writes for, runs, and owns a local online community newspaper, My Leader News.

“Dreams Awake” stars Erin Gray, Gary Graham and Tim O’Connor. Gray is known primarily for her lead roles in the TV series “Silver Spoons” and “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century,” but has also appeared in several other TV series’ and indie films. Graham starred in the TV series “Alien Nation” and “Star Trek Enterprise,” along with roles in a number of indie films. O’Connor came out of retirement to cap off his long career, which included starring opposite Erin Gray in “Buck Rogers,” as well as numerous roles dating back to the 1950s. He is primarily known for his role in the 1960’s TV series “Peyton Place.”

Billed as a mystical family drama, the story’s logline reads, “While on vacation a disconnected family gets stranded near mystical Mt. Shasta and amazing possibilities open up. A glimpse into the subtle but intense possibilities of the human spirit, this spiritual drama delves into that magical lore between reality and illusions, dreams and awake, and life and immortality.”
